To our amazing UMAI community,Please accept our sincere apology for the recent display of artwork on the sign/barricade in San Francisco. It was wrong of us and we are truly sorry. This was entirely our mistake and we take full responsibility for this sign/barricade.
We were recently contacted about our barricade sign that was posted for our new UMAI Hot Dogs location that is coming to San Francisco. We first want to thank those of you that shared your knowledge on the sign/barricade about it being offensive and brought this to our attention. For this we want to say THANK YOU.
We are beyond sorry to find out that this sign/barricade was offensive to you. When we set out to design this sign, our only intention was to let our UMAI community know that we were coming to San Francisco.
It was never our intention to hurt or bring harm to anyone. This was something we did not get enough eyes on to make sure the artwork and messaging was not hurtful. We have learned a very hard lesson here. On behalf of our staff, we are very sorry and take full responsibility for this incident.
We plan to remedy this by making sure that in the future we are more aware, cautious and properly research on anything we do. Our goal and intention is to serve our community, spread love, and increase diversity through great food and the connections we make.
Once again we are truly sorry and ask for your forgiveness. Thank you to all for your continued love and support.
